INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Our students are much more than what they do – they are the living dualities of leadership for today and tomorrow. It is only when we realise their strengths and assign responsibilities to them during the significant years of their lives, we would inculcate loyalty, accountability and integrity in them. Every year at the Investiture Ceremony, a grand event is held where our young Flourishians are conferred significant roles in the Students’ Council. They ascertain their commitments and vow to meet their duties with utmost discipline.

ANNUAL FUNCTION

Annual Day Celebration forms an integral part of our school activities and is certainly one of the most awaited moments for everyone at Flourish. It is a grand occasion of felicitation, feast and festivity, when students not only present their wonderful performances but are also conferred prizes for their curricular and co-curricular achievements. Moreover, it is an opportunity for parents to see their kids perform on stage so confidently and to actually witness their involvement in school activities.

FOUNDATION DAY

A day of remembrance, a day of honouring, and a day to celebrate what has been achieved over the bygone years. Foundation Day marks the celebration of our past, our nascent idea, the journey through and the joy of arriving at a new destination every year, and is hence, celebrated with great pomp and show. The entire school unites and preparations are in full swing weeks before the actual day arrives.

ART AND SCIENCE EXHIBITION

Every child is an artist and this is proved to be true every year in the Art and Science Exhibition, which witnesses the creativity and ingenuity showcased by the young Flourishians. Prior to the exhibition, an art and science workshops are organised in which students learn distinct arts, be it traditional, folk or contemporary. Various science models and projects explaining different concepts of science are created by the students. Apart from these skills, students learn the importance of working as a team and realise that team success gives more happiness than individual success.

INDEPENDENCE AND REPUBLIC DAY

To memorialise the ultimate sacrifice by the freedom fighters, to mark the importance of our freedom, and to celebrate the identity of our republic nation, Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated every year with great patriotic fervour, wherein we pay respect and offer our gratitude to the freedom fighters and leaders who paved the path for Indian independence and progress. Hearts beam with pride when the National Flag is unfurled by the dignitaries and the National Anthem sung thereafter soothes souls with the sense of liberty. Students, with their faces adorned with tricolours, showcase their talent and spirit in the cultural programme.

JANMASHTAMI

Janmashtami celebration is an occasion much awaited by the Flourishians, as they celebrate the birthday of their favourite, Shri Krishna, and adore His innocent mischievous childhood. The surroundings echo with the chants and the playful spirit of kids is elevated when they dress up as little Radha and Krishna, recite various hymns, and enact Shri Krishna’s life and teachings through song and dance performances.

TEACHER'S DAY

‘It takes a big heart to shape little minds.’ Importance of a good teacher in students’ life can never be denied and it is a teacher’s wisdom that has a life-long impact on students’ mind. Our lovely Flourishians do realise this and so, are geared up for the Teachers’ Day celebration every year. The day starts with the greetings and wishes, which is then followed by a vivid and bright celebration wherein teachers rejoice and are mesmerised by the fun activities and performances by the students.

DUSSEHRA

We believe in keeping our culture alive by reminiscing significant events from our glorious tradition and Dussehra Celebration is one such occasion for doing so. The well adorned stage brings the moment alive when Flourishians enact the epic Ramayana. They portray and revitalise the virtues of Shri Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, Raavan, etc. and signify the victory of righteousness over evil. Their confident portrayal is a real treat for the eyes and is always worth applauding.

DIWALI

The festival of light is celebrated every year at Flourish where everyone indulges in oodles of activities. Our zealous Flourishians get dressed up in colourful attires, decorate the school with beautiful rangoli and adorn lamps and lanterns. They perform the pooja and thereafter sweets are distributed. Before departing for the holidays they greet each other and resolve to celebrate a safe and significant Diwali at home.

CHILDREN'S DAY

No sight in the world could be as pleasant as the beaming and gleeful faces of the little ones, enjoying in their childish innocence. Every year, on Children’s Day celebration, our little Flourishians are in for a real treat and delight from their teachers, who, along with the students, dwell in the rejoicing memories of their childhood. The celebration is filled with fun moments and games, and all one would encounter are happy-go-lucky faces of children, which jubilate as they win prizes.

CHRISTMAS

The month of December starts with the joy and excitement of celebrating Christmas, which elevates with each passing day as the day approaches. The entire school is arrayed with adorable and vivid Christmas decorations, candies and gifts are distributed, students spread the message of peace and love by singing melodious carols, enact the birth of Jesus, and spend time with their favourite, Santa. They extend greetings for the New Year and depart for the holidays with warm hearts.

Celebrates the inseparable bond of brother-sister as students participate in making colourful threads of love and affection.

What else could be a better tool to unify the students than school assembly? So to add a flavour to it, we have contemporary assembly themes every week. Everyone gets to bring his/her offerings, the fruits of observation and a range of topics, from behaviour to values, literature to science, history to current affairs, etc. Besides, we have special assemblies to commemorate various personalities and occasions.

You read you forget, you do you remember. So to make it more practical, we encourage learning by doing through Exercises in Practical Life. Mentors help the students adopt the lessons learnt in the class in their day to day lives. As children are the best imitator, our mentors demonstrate each topic in the class which enables the students to grasp the concept.

Swami Vivekananda has quoted it well, “We want that education, by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased and the intellect is expanded.” Owing to such a belief, a daily routine of Talk Hour session is followed in the morning wherein mentors interact with their students and indulge in a dialogue about manners, rules & responsibilities, values, and being social.

Besides ‘You are what you eat’, it is ‘You are how you eat’ too now. No one would want to dine with a person who’s sloppy and untidy. You wouldn’t want to dine with the Goops, would you? So here, we try our best to teach the students proper table manners, which include being grateful for the meal and proper hygiene.

Our brains are hardwired to think and express in terms of a beginning, middle and end. It helps in understanding the world around us and stories are the best way to do that. We realize that children process information through stories and hence we build stories around basic, essential and contemporary GK topics which help them to naturally remember, retain and recall the facts.

Students are often assumed to develop communication skills when in school, but we feel that more formalized instruction about communication is beneficial for them and their futures. To comprehend this, we conduct basic communication skill sessions for elementary sections including basic usage of words. The primary sections have relatively advanced vocabulary sessions including complex sentences. The middle sections go one step ahead and have seminars and presentations being conducted to develop a command over language.
